After a crazy whirlwind of a week, it feels good to collect my thoughts in a quiet coffee shop. It looks as though it will snow soon. The sun can't cut through the thick layer of clouds and it feels like a living metaphor for the last few weeks.
I went to church this morning. It has been awhile. I am glad I went.
This week I have dealt with a close friend having an abortion, another close friend having a divorce, three different friends have unexpected pregnancies, and a best friend moving away for a new job. There seems to be no end to the chaos and I must confess that I feel like a small boat in a big storm.
The hard drive crashed with all of our music on it. I wish I was making this up but I am not. Most of files should have been recoverable but the data recovery specialist we sent it off to said that it needed to go to a different type of specialist. We found that out Monday afternoon and the only option was to immediately start from scratch on the Feb track (Boomerang) that same afternoon. Drums were set up again within an hour and a half. Every day this week was a mad dash towards a finish line we had seen weeks ago. But the progress was undeniable and the song has really come together. I am excited to hear it mixed and mastered. Miraculously, we should have it out on time for Feb 14th release. Everyone rallied and the team worked long, long hours to complete the work.
On a brighter note, we will be on 96X tonight for the Late Late Rock Show from 10-Midnight so tune in here to check it out http://www.96x.fm/info/listenlivehelp.shtml
Tomorrow is the groundbreaking/wall raising ceremony for Rhonda's house! At 10:30 AM we will be playing an acoustic version of "Home" and "The House That Fire Built."
