Subject: Mae in DC

Dear Steve,

We understand Mae is planning to be in DC for a show soon and we wanted to invite them to participate in a non-partisan conversation with several senior policy officials at the White House and/or Capitol while they are in town.

For several years a small group of senior policy aides have been meeting with artists as they come through town to discuss the unique relationship between the arts and politics. In the past we have met with artists such as Bono, Mel Gibson, The Fray, Patricia Heaton, Randy Travis, Peter Gabriel, Billy Corgan, Switchfoot and several others to discuss the unique role art has in shaping belief and imagination. We are also interested in their spiritual perspective. This is a non-partisan outreach so there is no policy agenda of any kind. We simply meet with artists to gain a better understanding of their role in the broader culture and, in some cases, to serve as a resource on issues that are important to them. Some issues we have worked on with artists in the past include: Global AIDS, urban literacy programs, adoption, environmental awareness, sex trafficking and several others.

These meetings are typically held in the U.S. Senate Member’s Dining Room or in the White House West Wing Mess and we are happy to arrange a tour of the U.S. Capitol and/or White House as well if the band is interested. Family members and other guests are of course welcome to join. If Mae is interested in meeting with us, please let me know as soon as possible and I will begin working with the White House to set something up.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks,

Back on the road! It has crazy getting ready to leave but we are off again. We started this run with Sherwood and Relient K in the middle of Time Square at the glorious Nokia Theater. I am pleased to be playing C&C Custom Drums and this is my new kit!!! Due to a weird scheduling thing I wasn't even able to play them until our set in NY. And they sound AMAZING! Thank you Bill for pulling that together so well.
We are playing a few songs from our upcoming release, "Singularity." So far they seem to be going over well and we appreciate the opportunity to play them for a live audience. I can already tell this tour is going to be a lot of fun and hopefully we will see you soon...
